Update for the week 10-22-09
Board Meeting next Monday 10-26-09
7:30PM
Update from Sabre Springs - Craig Levitt
1. You are cordially invited to attend a community meeting on Monday, November 9, 2009, at 6:30 p.m. at the Carmel Mountain Ranch/Sabre Springs Recreation Center to discuss the future of the Sabre Springs Planning Group. This is not an official planning group meeting.
2. Due to the recent tragedies on Sabre Springs Parkway I contacted Steve Denny with the City streets division. He is also very concerned about this issue and is going to do a study of area and provide feedback of what can be done to make Sabre Springs Parkway safer.
3. The medians on Sabre Springs Parkway, Poway Rd, and some of the slopes on Sabre Springs Parkway weren't looking very good. I met with Jaimie Diez with the city and Hector the project manager with Aztec Landscaping to fix the issues. They have a "punch list" of items that they will be working on. We should see some improvements in the coming months.

Turf Renovation this winter
The board approved a very wide scoping plan this month to do some intense turf renovation. Since the city has restricted our watering this year we were not able to plant a summer grass, and our winter Rye died off once the summer heat kicked in. We had our landscapers check the soil and the over all condition of the soil and turf and we found out that we had a very out of balance PH and that we have many types of turf, not all are planned or wanted. So to help bring the grass we have and want to keep back to a better state, we will be doing some major work.
1. Grass will be scalped to allow the water to get in the roots.
2. The soil will be aerated - which has not been done for 5 year and is way over due.
3. A winter grass seed will be placed,
4. A topper soil will be added to hold in water and add some much needed nutrition to the soil.
5.Next spring we will be adding a summer blend grass seed, to keep the grass green all summer, even if the watering ban is keep in place.
Thank you,
Jeff - HOA
